ELIJAH WOOD, COVER STORY
photography / TRAVIS SHINN
Art and photography direction and layout design.
This was my first cover ever! Elijah was coming out with a new show called “Wilfred” and we thought we should keep the theme going-shoot him in suburbia. We found a “fake wall” (prop set secrets), some fake turf and a hose. Looks like suburbia right? What you don’t see is photographer Travis Shinn and myself running around like maniacs building the set inside - out of paper. And why? Oh yeah our “wall” wouldn’t fit through the photo studio doors. Always measure, lesson learned. P.S. Thanks for the recognition NY Magazine!

JIM PARSONS, COVER STORY
photography / BRANTLEY GUITERREZ
People either passionately love him or passionately hate him. But truth be told, Jim Parsons is quite popular. The concept was easy, get the nerd to be the hero.

KENDRICK LAMAR
photography / STEVEN BARSTON
KL, before he became a household name. Truth be told he was a trooper. We turned this newbie rapper into a fashion icon. Not to mention when we stopped by the office a few weeks later to pick up the issue, he was quite humbled about his 4-page spread.

MAC MILLER
photography / JUSTIN BORUCKI
Art and photography direction.

GILLIAN JACOBS
photography / TRAVIS SHINN
Sooo it’s pronounced “Gill-e-n”. What a babe. We photographed her as if she was being followed around 24/7 by a team of paparazzi’s.

KEVIN CONNOLLY
photography / TRAVIS SHINN
Like you, I remember watching many season of Entourage and stating after every episode “why is it only 30 min?!” When we were pitched Kevin Connolly we thought it would be a great idea to shoot him alone, no props, nothing fancy. It was time for “E” to get the breakout recognition he deserved.

MIKE “THE SITUATION”
photography / TONY HARMER
Art and photo direction. Everyone’s favorite Jersey pin-up.

photography / TONY HARMER (mostly)
